Join the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies and its Center for Culture, History, and Environment for a free screening of OVERBURDEN, a documentary exploring conservation, community, and the challenges of protecting one of West Africa’s most threatened ecosystems.
Set in the East Nimba Nature Reserve, the film follows rangers, scientists, and local forest defenders as they work to safeguard endangered species and support the communities that depend on the land. Against the backdrop of a billion-dollar company’s unfulfilled commitments, OVERBURDEN highlights the complex relationship between environmental protection, economic interests, and local livelihoods.
The screening will be followed by a moderated discussion featuring voices from the film.
